Battery Wharf Hotel

In 2016, I was asked to redesign the Battery Wharf Hotel's (Boston, MA) Wedding Package. The hotel wanted a more modern and clean look that appeared inviting to potential brides. I started by laying out the text and choosing which typefaces to use. Following their brand standards, I chose to use Gotham for the main copy. I wanted something a bit fancier to pair it with for the headings though. Instead of going the traditional route of wedding packages and using a script font, I chose the serif font Pistilli. It had a more modern, Vogue-like quality that I thought suited the personality of the hotel better. For color I chose two of the hotel's four brand colors, black for the main text and gold for headings and subheadings. This kept it in line with their brand while still having a wedding feel to it.

Lastly and most importantly, I spent time looking through their photo archives and carefully picking out photos for each page. For the cover, I wanted something that tied into their tagline "Where the City and the Water Wed." I chose a photo of a couple walking alongside the harbor next to the hotel. In the photo, the couple has their backs to the reader so you can't see their faces, something I feel helps potential brides picture themselves there instead. The hotel's primary goal, of course, was to show off the space. When you open the package, the first page shows off each of their three main spaces. For the rest of the package, I continued to use photos of the space as the main focus on the page, however from a design standpoint I thought it was important to combine those with other photos like food, displays, and couples enjoying themselves. It made the page more visually pleasing and helped to paint a picture of the entire wedding experience at the Battery Wharf Hotel.
